Which type of
CBD is right for me? Before you choose a CBD product, it’s important to understand the spectrum of CBD products. There are three categories of CBD products that contain varying amounts of CBD and other natural cannabinoids from the hemp plant.
Full-Spectrum
Full spectrum CBD is created through what’s known as a full-plant extraction. That means it includes all naturally occuring active cannabinoids from the hemp plant. Full spectrum CBD contains plant terpenes, flavonoids, vitamins, minerals, and plant proteins from the original hemp source.
All of these compounds work together in what is known as the Entourage Effect, in which the potential health benefits are multiplied.
It’s also important to note that full spectrum CBD may contain up to <0.3% THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the cannabinoid known to produce the ‘high’ effect felt when consuming cannabis.
When you choose a full spectrum CBD product, you reap the highest level of medicinal effects of the plant. It is the most effective form of CBD - we like to call it the plant in the bottle.
Broad Spectrum
Broad spectrum CBD is created by taking full spectrum hemp extract and further processing it to remove trace amounts of THC. It includes most active hemp-derived cannabinoids with the exception of THC. Similarly to full spectrum CBD, all compounds in broad spectrum CBD work together in what is known as the Entourage Effect, thus multiplying the potential health benefits.
While broad spectrum CBD contains significantly less THC than full spectrum, it may still contain very small amounts of THC, so it cannot technically be classified as THC-free.
Isolate
Isolate CBD is created by removing all other plant compounds (except, of course, CBD) from full spectrum hemp extract. Once these molecules are removed, all that remains is a white powder that is 99+% pure CBD and contains 0.0% THC. CBD isolate contains no cannabinoids or terpenes from the hemp plant other than cannabidiol (CBD).
